Blackpool Zoo
The resident Severn-Lamb steam outline 2-8-0 is turned at the east end of the 800yd Blackpool Zoo line on 28th August 2018. The diesel engine is carried in the tender but there is a belt drive (which can just be seen) to the third coupled axle of the locomotive. This was the second Rio Grande locomotive I had seen in less than a week See image 65530 and both drivers told similar stories. Because the weight is in the tender rather than the loco they suffer from very poor adhesion and rain usually means services have to be halted.
