Looking east along Hamilton Road towards Mount Vernon station on a dreich January day. The gates (left) survive from the now demolished 'Golden Gates' hotel, formerly a private residence (225 Hamilton Road) which in the early 1940s housed the BBC's regional emergency studio for the west of Scotland. Fortunately never actually needing to be used, the secret studio still required to be tested fortnightly or thereby by junior BBC engineers during the war years.
