Strathbungo Junction
Class 20 leading (two on the rear) climbing from General Terminus Quay with a load of either coal or iron ore for Ravenscraig Steel Works. Seen here at Strathbungo Junction en route to the former Strathbungo station before reversing to reach the West Coast Main Line at Gushetfaulds. The Cathcart Circle is on the left. The view looks north in 1974. Strathbungo box, behind the locomotive, had closed in September the previous year. The route was due to the closure of the usual route via the Burma Road.
