A container train runs south towards Carlisle on 3 August 2007, having just passed through Gretna Junction. Beyond the wooden fence on the left is the overgrown trackbed of the original NB line that turned east at this point to join up with the Waverley route at Longtown (closed in 1970 beyond Smalmstown) see image 24154. The VGA vans in the left background are standing on the embankment that carries the 1963 link from Mossband Junction, which currently serves MoD Longtown munitions depot.
