This disused bridge on the former Nuneaton station avoiding line (the Birmingham to Leicester line while Abbey Street station was still open) has survived being hit by a 40-tonne truck, but the truck (just visible behind the bright red recovery wagon) tipped over onto its right side, and was certainly more damaged than the bridge. Why is it so difficult for truck drivers to read height restriction signs? Old Hinckley Road was closed for six hours - the consequences could have been horrific if the truck, sliding out of control on the wrong side of the road, had hit an oncoming car. POSTSCRIPT: this was one bash too many for Nuneaton Council - the bridge was demolished on 15th-16th February 2020.
