Malton

A TransPennine 185 approaching Malton on a bright and sunny 29 June 2011 with a Scarborough - Liverpool Lime Street service. The level crossing barriers and pitched roof of Malton signal box on Castlegate are visible in the left background see image 23497. At this point the train is running alongside an abandoned section of platform. With a similar arrangement in place at the other end of the station this has reduced the original operational platform length from 850 feet to 500 feet.
