This section of the line between Krokom and Mattmar rises gradually towards the west allowing long straight stretches of track as here. The track seems to have been lowered under a road bridge in the middle of the picture. In this locality there was a station serving a popular spa village which had hotels etc in the late 19th Century based on 'healthy' spring water; it proved too popular for its own good as the spring ran dry. Nothing remains on the ground to show what was once here. As with many communities along the route the smaller halts have now been closed. Out of 44 halts and stations in the 162km between Östersund and Storlien there are now only 10 which remain open. The photo was taken from a level crossing looking east about 100 metres east of the bridge over the small river, Ytterån.
