On the left is Donald's Quay Light, a navigation mark on the north bank of the River Clyde between Bowling and Old Kilpatrick. The structure on the right is one of the remaining piers of a footbridge which crossed the Lanarkshire and Dumbartonshire Railway to reach the light. On the south bank of the river Erskine House can just be seen. On the parallel Forth and Clyde Canal - a short way behind the camera - is the well known Ferrydyke bascule bridge, cottage and canal stables. Donald's Quay was the north bank pier of an earlier version of the Erskine Ferry, the quay was swept away during groundwork for the L&D.
