Halsall

Despite running through the middle of flat fertile farm land, seventy years after final closure the line of the Downholland branch is still easily seen. This is the route north of Halsall station towards Southport in August 2020. The trackbed follows the line of pylons but the trees in the distance, and the ramps of yet another LSPJR road bridge, mark the site of New Cut Lane railmotor halt. This opened in 1906 and closed with passenger services in 1938.
