Extract from the Scottish Region timetable winter 1960-61 showing the Strathaven and Coalburn branches. It shows a rather poor service by today's standards; 'E' is what's now SX and 'S' is SO. Stonehouse was to become Scotland's sixth designated New Town but was 'de-designated' after it had barely got going. Lucky escape?
