Yesterday's technology: LCD departures board at York in May 1994. At the time station names on such displays were limited to an often inadequate ten letters. Incidentally neither ‘CSTR-LE-ST’ nor EDGE HILL were true destinations; these were slight deceptions to guide passengers towards express services to Newcastle and Liverpool respectively.
