Before railway services put paid to them the Lancaster Canal was famous for its fast packet boat services between Preston and Kendal. These made the entire 56 mile journey in seven to eight hours and this was achieved by changing the horses around every four miles. This canalside house at Brock was once a stable block and changeover point for the packet boat horses. It is close by the railway too and a track machine can just be seen heading south on 15th January 2021. Photo ancillary to a permitted exercise walk under Corona virus legislation.
