Calais Maritime
In the days before cheap flights or Channel tunnels, the traveller to the Continent could look forward to the wonderful sight of a Chapelon '231E' Pacific awaiting the arrival of the cross-channel ferry at Calais. 231E5 is seen here at Calais Maritime at the head of the heavy 8pm overnight express to Basle on 2nd July 1964.
