Cawton Gate Crossing

View looking east along a lengthy section of the extant trackbed, from the former Malton line, running between Hovingham Spa station and Cawton Gates crossing keepers cottages. The trackbed is a permissive path over Hovingham Estates land. Cawton Gates crossing was around 500m east of the point where the Pickering line diverged north after both ran in parallel from Gilling East station. To rear of view a further, near 100m, section of the trackbed is being dug out to convert to, and join up two isolated sections of, arable land
