Little Hulton station closed in 1954, along with the ex-LNWR line from Bolton Great Moor St, although goods trains passed through for a further six years. The platforms and buildings were removed and the stone work, seen in this April 2021 view towards Bolton from the A6 overbridge, was put in during the conversion of the trackbed to a greenway. A new Little Hulton station has been proposed, but if built will be on the nearby L&YR line between Walkden and Atherton.
