Morpeth

UK Railtours' excursion from Kings Cross passing Morpeth station in Northumberland and crossing the southbound track to take the freight line to Bedlington via Choppington (closed to passengers on 3rd April 1950), on 7th April 2018. The train continued south beyond Bedlington to Newsham where it reversed on its way to North Blyth. It then returned direct to Newcastle along the freight only line through Seaton Delavel. Alas, it did not go to Ashington; however, funding for the reopening of the Newcastle to Ashington line to passengers was granted in January 2021 but not including Morpeth to Bedlington.
