UK Railtours' excursion on 7th April 2018 on the Ashington freight line at the site of Newsham station, one-time junction for the branch to Blyth that closed to passengers on 2nd November 1964 at the same time as the Ashington line. Having left the ECML at Morpeth travelling via the freight line to Bedlington where it meets the Ashington line, the train is seen after reversal about to retrace its steps through Bebside and Bedlington before going on to the North Blyth freight branch. Now that funding for the reopening of the Ashington line has been granted, a new station will be built here.
