An unofficial footpath allowed a partial exploration of parts of the old Hilton House branch around the junction with the 1889 link to Dobbs Brow Junction. See map 76558. This was known as Hindley and Blackrod Branch Junction and an L&YR cabin controlled this until both lines closed in 1968. It was a wooden structure so inevitably, after over fifty years, most of it has gone but some brickwork from the base was still visible on the right to mark the spot, along with some S & T paraphernalia. This April 2021 view looks south where the Dobbs Brow line went left and that to Crow Nest Junction curved to the right.
