Hilton House
Hilton House (Halt) was on the Blackrod to Hindley line and closed in 1954 although trains passed through for a further fourteen years. The station site is now occupied by a landscape merchants, as seen here from across the A6 road which the line once passed underneath. There was previously a triangle of lines here serving nearby Scot Lane Collieries. Behind the camera a hotel complex covers the trackbed but beyond that a curving embankment is still in place running down to Blackrod.
