On a murky December afternoon in 1967, a coal train headed by Stanier 8F 48081 is held by signals in Preston station. Using this side of Preston station this train could well be bound for the Courtaulds factory on the old Longridge branch, which at this time was still receiving three coal trains a day. 34401
