The remains of the Ness Viaduct seen at low tide from the east bank in 1989. Not much progress towards reconstruction had been made at this stage, only ramps prepared to allow access to the riverbed for excavators (one is seen distant left). However Sprinters had been moved to the separated Far North lines and a depot established at Muir of Ord.
