So, I took a morning walk into the Laighills at Dunblane and, bored by the current monotony of rolling stock, set the date on the digital camera back to July 1990 for more variety. Here is 477701 'St Andrew', recently displaced from front line Glasgow-Edinburgh-Aberdeen services by Class 156 units in lieu of 158 units, heading the 07.55 Glasgow to Inverness. This was a time of a rapid decline in loco hauled passenger services in Scotland, and before long new generation DMUs were plying the Inverness route too. The loco was transferred to Network South East duties later that year.
