The Caledonian and North British systems were connected at Peebles by a link line running east from the CR terminus for a quarter of a mile along the Tweed before turning north and crossing the river to reach Peebles Junction, just short of the NB station. Part of the embankment that once carried the link line north of the river runs alongside Tweed Avenue, seen here looking east in 2017, with the embankment incorporating an old infilled bridge.
