A converted footbridge spanning the A89 in West Lothian, looking south towards Uphall station in April 2010. The original bridge was built to carry a mineral line serving the extensive shale workings in this part of Scotlands central belt, with Uphall Oil Works less than half a mile distant. During the shale era the predominant feature in much of the surrounding area would have been the shale waste bing - see image 28599.
