Wells Harbour [WHR]
In 2021, Wells-next-the-Sea suffered yet another railway closure, this time of the Wells Harbour Railway. This photo, taken on 15th July 2022, shows the former track bed with the only rails remaining set into a crossing. At the time, construction work was underway either end of the mile long harbour wall to provide infrastructure for a replacement electric bus service. The surprise and dismay of unsuspecting holidaymakers arriving for a train ride that day was obvious. Whereas the railway was both an attraction and a service, the bus is just a service. I may be wrong, but I suspect the Wells Harbour Railway is merely taking a break ...
