Elevated view of the Crinan Canal and Bellanoch Basin on 3rd November 2022. The very low water level in the canal, and the normally busy basin, was because it had been drained for major works around the lock flights, including replacement of several gates. The scenic waterway winds around the hillside and then passes left to right just above the sea. After passing the white cottage it turns to go around the headland, beyond which is Crinan Basin. The land visible beyond the Crinan headland is the island of Scarba, and between there and (out of sight to the left) Jura is the famous Corryvreckan Whirlpool.
