Carlisle Kingmoor MPD
Preserved A4 No 4498 'Sir Nigel Gresley' had just come off the 'Splendour of Steam Rail Tour' on 1 October 1967 and was making its way past Carlisle Kingmoor shed. A minute later it had reversed into the depot, where it stopped beside my pal and myself. A most welcome sight as the rain was pouring down, and we were invited onto the footplate where the open firebox made short work of drying us off!
