'PS Waverley' at Campbeltown in May 1970, on a special charter. She is resplendent in a fresh coat of paint, and it would be tempting to imagine that flags are aloft in celebration of the return of black paint for her hull after the rather unsuccessful 'monastral blue' of the previous five seasons. The real reason for the flags was not however recorded by the photographer. One guesses that they were not solely on account of the charter sailing, as 'Waverley' was joined at the pier by the similarly decorated 'Duchess of Hamilton' during the visit to Campbeltown (see 83431).
