New Galloway

Cross platform view of New Galloway station, photographed looking north in May 2007. The station was located in the hamlet of Mossdale, some 5 miles south of the village from which it took its name. The line arrived from Loch Skerrow below the road bridge on the right and ran along the other side of what is now a boundary wall, built by the new owners following closure. When the old trackbed subsequently became a long distance walkway it therefore required a slight diversion to the south of this wall. For a view of the approach from below the bridge see image 29760.
