Currently the oldest trains on the Underground, Bakerloo Line 1972 stock departs from Edgware Road heading south to Elephant & Castle on 10th January 2023. In the 1970s, London Transport wanted to close this station permanently but had second thoughts and it survives to this day. It is completely separate from the Metropolitan Line station, also served by Circle, District and Hammersmith & City Lines trains, with passengers having to walk along the street to interchange, including crossing the busy Marylebone Road in the shadow of the ghastly Marylebone flyover, and on this day, anybody doing so, like myself, was in for a right royal soaking.
