Redbridge Viaduct

The bridge built to carry the Waverley route over the River Tweed between Galashiels and Tweedbank, seen here looking south in October 2014. Following closure of the railway in 1969 the structure became part of a busy pedestrian link between the two locations known locally as 'the black path'. The scene shows work in progress in connection with the new Borders Railway, on completion of which trains would share the crossing with pedestrians, cyclists ...and bats! (See image 45114)
