Port Edgar

Port Edgar looking to the western breakwater from the site of a bridge over the closed railway. The North British extended the South Queensferry branch here in 1878 and was to open a station on the breakwater (built by the NB). A ferry service operated over the Forth to North Queensferry Pier. By reversal from the pier the NBR's sleeper creosoting works was reached (along what is now the tarmac road), the harbour become a naval base in both World Wars.
