Poplar

View from DLR unit 138, from Woolwich Arsenal to Bank, arriving at Poplar where interchange with the Stratford to Canary Wharf line is available, on 4th March 2023. This station is more or less on the site of the old London & Blackwall Railway's Millwall Junction that closed in 1926. The original North London Railway Poplar station, that closed in 1944 after war damage, is where the DLR's All Saints station on the Stratford branch now stands. This is actually in the centre of Poplar and should, by rights, have retained that name. Other DLR station names are unfathomable too. In the background is the inclined viaduct, nicknamed 'the ski slope', that takes the Canary Wharf line over that to Bank and Tower Gateway.
