Wymondham South Junction on 26th June 1977, looking west towards Attleborough. Removal of the direct connection between the up main line and the Dereham branch has just been completed and the work team are keeping an eye on their handiwork as the first trains travel over it. Freight traffic to Dereham and beyond continued via the down connection until 1989 and it was subsequently maintained in use for the Mid Norfolk railway. The signalman's supply of coal, somewhat carelessly dumped on the track beside his box, will be noted.
