The road that once led to the Gore Pit on the western edge of Gorebridge, seen here in 2016. The road passed between two large waste bings containing spoil from various workings of the former Arniston Coal Company (later NCB), including the last two survivors, the Gore Pit (off to the left) and the Emily Pit (right) both ceasing production in 1962. The tall brick structure is the remains of the tramway bridge that once carried spoil from the Emily Pit to the top of south bing. The southern abutment of the bridge as well as the south bing itself have been removed since closure, with the land now occupied by several public football pitches.
