Norchard High Level

Dean Forest Railway train approaching Norchard High Level, with Low Level on the right, on 4th July 2015. The original passenger service on this section of the line had ceased on 8th July 1929. Rebuilding the route that currently forms the DFR was protracted with steam operations beginning at Parkend in 1971 before these moved to Norchard in 1978. The line was purchased from BR in 1986 but it was many years before full services resumed. Some workings began at Lydney Town in 1991 but it was 26th December 2005 before the line from Parkend to Lydney Junction fully reopened.
