A view of Fleetwood in 2012. The curved building at the bottom left of the picture is the North Euston Hotel. As the road curves round the first building on the Wyre Estuary is Fleetwood Ferry for the boat to Knott End, which is just off picture to the left. Continuing round there is an open space with a linkspan. This is the site of Fleetwood station, which closed in 1966, and was later where the ferries to Northern Ireland departed before services transferred to Heysham Port. The barren open space on the far side of the peninsula was all railway tracks at one time, and later a lorry trailer park for the ferries, all now disused. The inlet is the entrance to Fleetwood Dock, now given over to leisure craft.
