Montrose Grain Store was served from Montrose [CR] station by a siding which came off the branch to the harbour and then, via a turnplate, passed under the Customs House (which can be seen beyond the grain store) to reach the granary. The store still stands (just) on Caledonia Street. Lines in the harbour area were independent of the railway companies who had running rights. There was another rail served granary north of the station.
