Byfleet and New Haw

View from First Class carriage on Railway Touring Company's steam-hauled excursion from Victoria to Yeovil Junction and Weymouth, returning to Waterloo, passing Byfleet & New Haw station, having travelled via the Chersey loop, on the morning of Sunday, 9th July 2023, the eve of this station's 96th birthday. It opened on the ex-London & Southampton Railway's main line of 1838 on 10th July 1927 and originally called West Weybridge, renamed in June 1962. The station was designed by Scottish architect James Robb Scott (1882-1965), Chief Architect to the Southern Railway. (Another of his stations is at Bishopstone on the Seaford branch, see my photo image no. 85324, April 2023.)
