Medway Viaduct
The south side of HS 1's Medway Viaduct, looking back from preserved 1957 Hastings Thumper unit no. 1001 now heading south down the Medway Valley Line from Strood with the third stage of its UK Railtours charter from Cannon Street to Eastbourne, on the morning of Saturday, 12th August 2023. Thirteen days earlier, on 31st July, I travelled across the viaduct on the 11.37 southeastern service from St. Pancras International to Margate as far as the new Thanet Parkway station that opened on that day and back again to London in the afternoon.
