Judging by the hoardings, sheeting and extractor equipment surrounding the locomotive, some serious work was being undertaken on Brush Type 2 prototype 31018 at the NRM in October 2023. Streamlined GWR railcar W4 formed the workspace boundary on the other side. The other hall and outdoor areas of the museum are closed to the public at present while major refurbishment takes place so large exhibits can only be seen in the Great Hall.
