Green Lane
On 25th October 1978, HM The Queen formally inaugrated 'Merseyrail' and rode from Liverpool out to Kirkby in EMU 507001. This was coupled to 507002 to convey the 'entourage'. In those days the two units were in the standard blue and grey livery but now, probably in its last full year of service, 507002 has colourful if shabby overall vinyls. On 1st November 2023 it departed Green Lane heading into Liverpool on a service from Chester, next stop Birkenhead Central less than half a mile away.
