Sudbury [2nd]

Doh! I put the wrong grid reference into the RailScot TARDIS and ended up in the Gentleman's facilities on Sudbury (Suffolk) station on 10th April 1982. Still, there is a story to be had here as can be seen from the outrage chalked on the wall and the unsympathetic riposte. The station had been unstaffed since 1966, so presumably the message was from a visiting caretaker who was appalled at the abuse of the facility. Needless to say, the abuse continued and the threat was carried out soon after my visit. The last parts of the 1865 station were demolished in 1991 and the replacement structure provided nearby was built without such liabilities. Riposte graffiti partially obscured because of expletive.
