Rose Bridge Junction
Looking south on the Whelley Loop at the site of Rose Bridge Junction, where there was a freight chord to Kirkless Hall Junction on the Springs Branch. This closed in 1938 but was reopened in 1958 to allow the Springs Branch to close between Kirkless and Central Wagon Works. The curve closed again in 1965. On a walk from Whelley to Hindley South I passed former junctions at Round House, Rose Bridge, De Trafford and Amberswood East but, even with a 25 inch map extract, could not find any significant junction infrastructure, signal box bases etc.
