This concrete headframe is all that remains on the surface of Mary Pit. This was for the second shaft of the 1920s. The view looks east. Off to the right he branch continued, running north east to Kirkness via the Rosewell Colliery. The Mary Pit closed in 1966. On the right in this view is the short length of track which formed a plinth for Andrew Barclay 2259 (see Bill Roberton's image 78158).
