Royton

When Royton station was open a steel bridge carrying the road to Shaw crossed four tracks at the station throat. That has been replaced by this pedestrian tunnel, under the road embankment, and since the 1966 closure the station site has been covered by housing. Behind the camera, the trackbed of this short branch line has been tarmacked for about a mile as a public greenway.
