Sowerby Bridge [1st]

The first station in Sowerby Bridge was near the tunnel but replaced in 1876 by the station on the current site, several hundred yards to the east. The goods depot was built on the site, opposite the engine shed, and this building is believed to be the L&YR Goods Depot Office. Note the substantial gate post on the left, marking the goods yard entrance. Its opposite number was removed when a supermarket was built on the goods yard site.
