Salford Crescent

156461 and 150145 are about to enter the gloom of the huge road bridge at Salford Crescent as they slow to call at the station. This was a Manchester Oxford Road to Southport service on 17th April 2024. The bridge carries The Crescent, from which the station derives its name, and the entrance is adjacent to Salford University. The train is just leaving the Windsor Link Line, 700 metres of track that only opened in 1989 but transformed cross Manchester rail services. Prior to this trains from the Bolton and Wigan lines could only access Manchester Victoria.
