Brownqueen Tunnel

1050 'Western Ruler' heads 1E21, the 1020 Penzance to Leeds service on 27 December 1974, leaving Brownqueen Tunnel with the next stop Bodmin Road. 1050 would work to Plymouth for an engine change with probably a Leeds Holbeck based Class 45 Peak going forward but sometimes a Western Region Class 46 or 47. Shortly after this picture was taken we sat in the woods by the River Fowey having lunch all eating turkey sandwiches. There were some very long gaps in the train service back in those days on the Cornwall main line.
