60004, minus its tender and 'William Whitelaw' nameplates stands in scrap condition on Aberdeen shed in 1966. It was withdrawn from service on 17th July and by October had made its way to Wishaw where it was cut up by Motherwell Machinery and Scrap. On withdrawal it lost its tender to 60009. 60004, as LNER No. 4462, carried the name 'Great Snipe' from 1937 to 1941. See image 29962 for 60004 in service at Ferryhill.
